Financing Your Education at Husson
Husson College is committed to providing an outstanding quality education at an affordable price. Our reasonable and competitive tuition costs are the lowest possible for a private institution without state subsidies. We believe the financial aid outlined in the award letter is the best available given the limited resources at hand.
If there is a balance due from your direct Husson College charges (tuition, fees and room and board if living on campus) after financial aid resources (don’t forget that Federal Work Study is paid directly to the student via bi weekly paychecks and not credited to your student account) we hope your family savings will be sufficient to pay this. If this is not the case and you wish to finance that portion also you have a variety of choices outlined below.
TuitionPay Monthly Plan from Academic Management Services (AMS)
This option offers you the opportunity to spread your tuition payments, interest –free, over 11 or 10 monthly installments for a $55 fee. Contact our student accounts office at Husson College at (207) 941-7150 or contact AMS directly at (866) 884-8466 or www.TuitionPayEnroll.com.
Parental Loan for Undergraduate Students (PLUS)
Parents of students can apply for a PLUS loan, which carries a low interest rate (4.17% at time of printing) and usually allows up to 10 years for repayment. If you or your parents would like further information on this program, please contact www.salliemae.com
-1(800) 272-5543. If a parent is denied a PLUS Loan because of credit check issues please contact the Husson College Financial Aid Office at (207) 941-7156 as the student may be eligible for additional Unsubsidized Federal Stafford Loan. In this version of the Stafford Loan the interest (2.77% at time of printing) accrues while the student is in school but the student can choose to delay repayment until 6 months after ceasing to be at least a half time student.
Student Alternative Loans
These private loans carry a higher interest rate than PLUS or Stafford Loans and also require credit checks and most often a co-borrower. It is advised to explore other options before selecting this method of financing due to the debt burden placed on the student.
