Loan Entrance & Exit Counseling

Stafford Loans

Entrance Interviews
(for entering students borrowing for the first time)

First time borrowers of the Federal Stafford loan are required to complete a student loan entrance interview before they can receive their loan proceeds. The purpose of the entrance interview is to provide the student with important information regarding their rights and responsibilities as a student loan borrower. Entrance interviews are scheduled at the beginning of each semester but those students who are unable to attend can do their entrance interview online by clicking here. The Financial Aid Office will be notified automatically once you have completed your counseling.

Exit Interviews
(for student who are leaving or graduating from Husson College)

Students who have borrowed Federal Stafford loans while attending Husson College must complete a student loan exit interview prior to leaving the college. The purpose of the exit interview is to provide the student with important information regarding loan repayment, including deferments, grace periods, loan consolidation, and loan default. Exit interview sessions are scheduled at the end of each semester. Students who aren't' able to attend a session can complete their exit interview online by clicking here. The Financial Aid Office will be notified automatically once you have completed your counseling.

Perkins Loans

Entrance interviews are conducted online at www.collegexit.com. The Financial Aid Office will be notified automatically once you have completed your counseling.

Exit Interviews

Exit interview sessions are conducted online at www.collegexit.com. The Financial Aid Office will be notified automatically once you have completed your counseling.

U.S. Department of Education Federal Student Loan Ombudsman

The US Department of Education has established the Student Financial Aid Ombudsman to assist federal student loan borrowers. The Ombudsman works informally to help borrowers resolve loan disputes and problems. The Ombudsman Customer Service Line is 1-877-557-2575. The Ombudsman assists borrowers with the following federal loans: Federal Perkins Loans, Federal Stafford Loans, Federal PLUS Loans, Guaranteed Student loans, Supplemental Loans to Students (SLS), and Federal Consolidation Loans.

Student Loan History

Students can monitor their student loan history by going to www.nslds.ed.gov. Students must obtain a PIN number in order to access this web site. PIN numbers can be obtained by the following methods:

  • Students who previously filed their FAFSA online will have a PIN mailed to them in late fall so that they may access their renewal FAFSA online to apply for the next academic year.

  • Students may request a PIN be mailed to them by registering at NSLDS.
