ELIGIBLE BORROWERS
Anyone possessing a valid Husson College library card may sign materials out of
the library. Students, faculty, staff, and community people may apply for a
library card at the Circulation Desk.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF
BORROWERS
Borrowers are responsible for all books charged out on their cards. They must
keep track of the due dates for all items. They are responsible for notifying
the Library of any changes in address.
LOAN PERIODS
Students and community borrowers may check out books, government documents,
and vertical file materials for 3 weeks. Faculty and staff may check out this
material for 6 weeks. There is no limit to the number of books a borrower may
check out. Remember to be considerate of fellow library patrons and check out
only the books you need and return them when you are finished. Loan periods
may be extended over holiday, semester and summer breaks. Periodicals
(journals, magazines and newspapers) and reference books do not circulate.
CHECK OUT PROCEDURE
The book(s) to be borrowed and a valid library card are taken to the
Circulation Desk where they will be checked out electronically. The due date
will be stamped on a slip in the back of the book(s).
RENEWALS
Borrowed material(s) may be renewed if it has not been recalled or placed on hold
for another patron. Renewals may be made in person or by phone. The patron's
name and/or library card number must be provided in order to renew materials.
Materials are renewed for the same period of time as the original loan.
Materials may be renewed three times before they must be returned.
HOLDS
Patrons may place a hold (reserve) on a book that is checked out so that when
the book is returned, they will be notified and given the first opportunity
to borrow the book next. Place holds at the Circulation Desk. Please provide
the title (and copy, if appropriate) of the book. Books that have a hold on
them for another patron cannot be renewed, and must be returned immediately.
RETURNING BOOKS
Books should be returned to the Circulation Desk. Vertical File material should
be returned in the manila envelope that it was placed in when checked out.
OVERDUE BOOKS
No fine is assessed for
books, government documents, or vertical file materials that are returned
within two weeks of the due date.
LOST BOOKS
Three weeks after the due date the Business Office will be notified to bill
patron's accounts the price of each unreturned book, plus a $10.00 processing
fee; and $10.00 for each unreturned vertical file folder. When overdue
materials are found and returned, patron accounts will be credited or money
refunded. IMPORTANT: THE $10.00 PROCESSING FEE WILL NOT BE CREDITED OR
REFUNDED!
LOST AND FOUND
The Circulation Desk maintains a temporary lost and found service for
personal items left in the library.
