Interlibrary Loan (ILL) is a service that obtains for you materials not owned by this library. The library belongs to several regional and national networks whose members share resources at no cost. BORROWING GUIDELINES The ILL service is provided to Husson College students, faculty and staff. Materials requested should be limited to those needed to fulfill classroom assignments or for research. Books are generally loaned for up to four weeks; therefore, ILL is not an appropriate substitute for purchase of textbooks. Most libraries will not loan reference books, entire issues of journals, audiovisual materials, and dissertations. Libraries may choose not to loan recent fiction and rare or fragile items. The Copyright Law (PL 94-553) places limitations on what may be copied, as well as under what conditions and for what purposes items may be copied. All ILL requests are subject to copyright guidelines. REQUESTING MATERIALS Talk with a librarian to make sure all possibilities of our collection have been explored before using the interlibrary loan service. Fill out a Book Request form or a Photocopy Request form. Please supply all the information we ask for and request only one item per request form. Incomplete or illegible forms will be returned. Leave the completed form at the Circulation Desk. An electronic version of the ILL request form is available at www.husson.edu/libform.html Some bibliographic
databases have built-in ILL request forms. Contact a librarian for more
information about these. Patrons with a valid
Husson College library card may request books directly from Minerva and RECEIVING MATERIALS Usually an item is received within two weeks after the request is processed. You may ask at the Circulation Desk, phone, or e-mail the library to learn if an item has arrived. Materials are picked up at the Circulation Desk. It is the responsibility of the borrower to return material promptly. COST The patron requesting material is responsible for all costs. The library will not process a request that costs unless the patron gives prior approval. Usually there is no charge for loans of books, although an overdue fine may be assessed by the lending library. Some academic and health science libraries charge for photocopies of articles. Photocopies usually cost from $10 to $15. |
