and supports Husson College's commitment to teaching and learning.
Thus the objective of collection development is to provide materials

Both the collection and the library's services are intended to support
and enhance:
In fulfilling
this role, the library does not exist as its own entity detached from
the teaching/learning community of the College. The library receives
direction from the faculty as it actively acquires material in a variety
of formats and functions as an intermediary, or gateway, between patrons
and the information they seek. Helping patrons find what they want
and teaching them to use information resources is an important component
of the job of a librarian at Husson College. As part of the College's
educational goals, the librarians teach students how information is
gathered, organized and disseminated within their professions.
