Husson College Library

Mission Statement

The library reflects and supports Husson College's commitment to teaching and learning. Thus the objective of collection development is to provide materials that are current, that range from introductory to more advanced, and that include practical and professional as well as theoretical materials. Both the collection and the library's services are intended to support and enhance:

  • the faculty's knowledge of their fields;
  • the faculty's ability to present this knowledge;
  • the students' success in comprehending the knowledge of their fields;
  • and the students' lifelong skills retrieving, analyzing and integrating information relative to their professions.

In fulfilling this role, the library does not exist as its own entity detached from the teaching/learning community of the College. The library receives direction from the faculty as it actively acquires material in a variety of formats and functions as an intermediary, or gateway, between patrons and the information they seek. Helping patrons find what they want and teaching them to use information resources is an important component of the job of a librarian at Husson College. As part of the College's educational goals, the librarians teach students how information is gathered, organized and disseminated within their professions.
