WHAT ARE RESERVES
Reserves are materials (books, photocopied articles from periodicals,
special items loaned by faculty, etc.) designated by Husson College
faculty as required, or recommended, reading for a specific course.
Materials are normally placed on reserve for the duration of a course.
At the end of the semester they are removed from reserve status and
returned to the professor or to the library's circulating collection.
The Reserve Collection is located behind the Circulation Desk.
ELIGIBLE
BORROWERS
Any student with a valid library card may use the Reserve Collection.
RESTRICTIONS
ON USE Restrictions are determined by the faculty member who placed
the material on reserve or the Library's reserves staff. These restrictions
may be that the reserve material cannot be taken out of the library;
can be checked out only for a specific time period designated by the
instructor; cannot be photocopied, etc. Ask at the Circulation Desk
about any special restriction. You will also be told of any special
restrictions at the time that you request a reserve item.
HOW
TO FIND MATERIALS
Items on reserve are located on shelves behind the Circulation Desk
and are arranged alphabetically by instructor's last name. All items
on reserve for all instructors are listed in the Course Reserve Collection
in Athena, the Library's computerized catalog. You may search for
an item on reserve by using Athena. In Athena, change to the Course
Reserve Collection. You may then search for reserve items by typing
the course title, course number or instructor's last name. Or, click
the Visual Search button and then the Course Reserve button. Keep
clicking buttons until you find the instructor and course you are
looking for.
CHECK
OUT PROCEDURES
When you know what reserve item you want, ask for it at the Circulation
Desk. All reserve items are checked out electronically at the Circulation
Desk, even if they cannot leave the library. Library Use Only reserve
items have a 4-Hour use limit.
OVERDUE
ITEMS
The fine for overdue material is $1.00 per DAY for all course reserve
items that are not returned the date due. An item overdue three days
will be considered lost. The borrower will be billed the price of
the item, plus the overdue fine. If an item is found and returned
at a later time, a refund will be made, minus the overdue fine. Fines
can be paid at the Circulation Desk.
