The library offers many employment and learning opportunities. We are one of the largest student employers on campus, employing approximately 22 students during the fall and spring semesters to work as Library Assistants. Each year we hire approximately ten new students, and we also hire one or two students to work summers and during semester breaks. Library Assistants perform a variety of functions that are vital to the general operation of the library. They staff the circulation desk, help patrons locate materials and use the computer databases, reshelve books and journals, and assist the librarians. Student employees learn to use the library more effectively in their own studies. They gain valuable experience working with fellow students, faculty, and the general public. To be eligible for
employment, a student needs a work-study contract or a job bank contract.
Students who receive a work-study grant as part of their financial aid
package may be interested in applying for employment with us. For more
information about employment contracts, contact the Career Development
Office. Interested and eligible students can pick up a job application in the library, or click here to print off the application. Return the application to the Circulation Desk. 12/9/99 |
